Akwai bukatar mawadata su rika taimakawa al’umma -Safinatul Khair

January 20, 2017—In Northeast Nigeria in Maiduguri, Borno State, the IRC provides comprehensive reproductive healthcare for women displaced by Boko Haram living in host communities, as well as for host community members. When this clinic at Dele Hospital was first opened just a few months ago, not many beneficiaries were coming. The IRC used community mobilizers to do outreach and inform women in the community of the servies. Demand for family planning at this clinic has risen dramatically. Now, women wait in line for hours to speak to IRC staff about and to receive family planning services. Family Planning options offered include birth control pills, condoms, injections and implants. This is the first time many of these women have used family planning. Some do not want to have a child living in these conditions, while others just want to have a break between children.
